Near the Convention Center and Las Colinas

No discussion of things to do near the Irving Convention Center is complete without highlighting the entertainment powerhouse that is the Toyota Music Factory, a short 10-minute walk away. Here, you can take your pick of diversion. Catch a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema where you can order food and drinks right from your comfy seat. Take in a concert at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory, which hosts the very best national and international touring acts. Or choose from among some of Irving’s very best bars and restaurants: Thirsty Lion Gastropub and Grill, Bar Louie, and Gloria’s Latin Cuisine, to name only a few.

Irving’s Water Street district, also in Las Colinas, is a hub of new restaurants, shops, and more, all conveniently located near the shores of Lake Carolyn. Grab a dinner of street tacos and margaritas at El Famoso or enjoy Neapolitan-style pizza at Olivella’s before taking a stroll around the lake.

While you’re in the area, get ready to participate in some stand-up paddle boarding courtesy of Stand Up Paddle North Texas rentals, or, for a less rigorous tour around the lake, jump into a gondola with your colleagues for a ride and guided tour through the Mandalay Canals. Of course, you shouldn’t miss the chance to lay eyes on the Mustangs of Las Colinas—the largest equestrian sculpture in the world—and the Marble Cow Sculptures, all within minutes of the lake.

Have a little more time and itching to do more outside? Golf enthusiasts should plan to carve out some time to hit the links at one of the many excellent courses in Irving. Close to the Irving Convention Center, the Four Seasons Resort and Club is home to the PGA-caliber Tournament Player’s Course (TPC), a stunning course with rolling hills and majestic oaks.

Beyond Las Colinas

Outside of Las Colinas, you will find a vibrant city home to museums, arts, shopping, and more. 

Pay a visit to the Irving Arts Center to load up on some arts and culture. By day, unwind in the stunning sculpture garden or meander through the galleries to see the center’s rotating art exhibits. By night, take in a play or performance in one of its spacious theaters.

Take a step back in time by visiting the Irving Heritage District. Grab a bite at an authentic retro diner, Big State Fountain Grill, walk around Heritage Park and take in the historic features, or tour the Heritage House, an early 20th-century home of one of Irving’s founders.

For some relaxing time outdoors or exercise in the fresh air, make a stop at Campion Trails, a 22-mile trail along the Trinity River. Punctuated with parks and green spaces, you can walk or run along the trail or rent a convenient bicycle from a VBike dock. Whatever you choose, the experience in nature will leave you feeling refreshed.

Outside Irving

There are plenty of attractions to explore in the areas surrounding Irving. From spending an evening in the Dallas entertainment district of Deep Ellum to wandering through Fort Worth’s museums, like the Kimbell Art Museum, there is something for everyone.

Sports fans will want to take advantage of the region’s incredible array of sports teams. From professional sports, including the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers, and more, to college and amateur sports, there’s always a game going on somewhere just a short drive away.
