Performance Venue & Entertainment District
Future phases of the project are planned to include 300,000 square feet of entertainment venues on the southern end of the 40 acres of the convention center site. Expected to open in late 2011, the project includes a 6,000-person capacity concert venue, Las Colinas Entertainment Center, with 50 VIP suites overlooking the stage. There will also be 10 themed restaurants, along with unique retail shops.
A privately developed headquarters hotel adjacent to the convention center will add 350-450 rooms and an additional 15,000 square feet of meeting space and is expected to open in late 2011.
Nearby, the much-anticipated Water Street development begins construction in 2010. Located directly across from the Mustangs of Las Colinas on the shores of Lake Carolyn and just blocks from the convention center, Water Street will add new restaurants, luxury residences, retail space and a new boutique hotel. Its first phase should open in early 2012.
